Meet Lou, a fearful pup who believes he's been trapped by a witch and a monster only to discover he may have found his way home...
"Rescue Lou" is a children's book that tells the story of pet adoption from the perspective of a very scared dog. This book is dedicated to fearful dogs and the people who love them.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to PAWS New England.
A note from Amie:
When we adopted Lou, we had no idea what we were in for. He was terrified of us, refused to eat, didn’t know how to walk on a leash, tried to hide under our deck outside when we took him out and spent weeks in his crate. After a couple of months of working with a trainer, playing with our parents' dogs, and adopting our second dog Gus, our little fearful guy is living life to the fullest!
I created this story for families and people who adopt a fearful dog to encourage them not to give up. I was told I would never have a dog that greeted me and cuddled with me etc. I prepared myself that I was just going to essentially have a feral animal living in my house. I remember asking my husband Brian what he would do if I wanted to give up and he said “then he would be my dog.” Now we have the most loving, protective, hilarious companion. I don’t know what we would do without him.
